UPDF Medical Team at Mulago Hospital scaled down as COVID-19 Patients at the Hospital drop to 2

The scaling down of the hospital COVID-19 Treatment Team was effected following successive recoveries by former coronavirus patients, UPDF Medical Services doctors were among the experts scaled down as COVID-19 patients dropped to 2. UPDF doctors have been part of the joint Mulago National Referral Hospital COVID-19 Treatment Team at the front-line to defeat the pandemic. According to the Executive Director of Mulago National Referral Hospital Dr. Byarugaba Baterana, out of the twenty three (23) Covid 19 patients admitted at Mulago National referral hospital, 21 have been since discharged while only two (2) remain admitted at the facility.
Dr. Byarugaba Baterana thanked the UPDF medical team for working tirelessly at the frontline of the pandemic with the rest of Mulago hospital Medical team to defeat Covid 19. “Thank you for being disciplined and for fighting the pandemic, we have together reduced COVID-19 to the minimum, disabled it and actually defeated it with a heavy blow. You can now be baptized as COVID defeaters” Said the ED. The Executive Director requested the leadership of UPDF to consider deploying the team in other critical centers of National Referral including the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Neurology, Urology and others to further the experience that they have acquired.
Dr Rosemary observed that because of discipline, the entire team of physicians, medical officers, laboratorians, nurses and clinicians worked harmoniously in case management and surveillance. She called on UPDF medical team to remain a call away in case of any more Upsurge of the pandemic. The UPDF head of medical services Maj General Dr Ambrose Musinguzi reminded Ugandans that it is UPDF’s constitutional mandate to support the civil authority in case of any catastrophe, and the COVID-19 pandemic is one of such. He further commended the foresightedness of the UPDF leadership for training the initial 86 UPDF medics and later sensitizing the strategic leadership on the fight against Covid 19 way back before the disease set a foot in Uganda.
One COVID-19 recovered patient discharged from Mulago Hospital

The Deputy Excecutive Director Dr. Rosemary Byanyima handed over the Certificate and Discharge form to the Executive Director who who officially handed over the details to the recovered patient, this was patient number 21 to be treated at Mulago hsopital and recover from coronavirus. Dr. Fredrick Nakwagala one of the lead doctors on the hospital COVID-19 Treatment Team called upon the general public not to discriminate patients who recover from COVID-19 but instead fully welcome and support them as part of their total healing process.
Mulago Hospital collective COVID-19 Treatment Team of highly experienced doctors among other health professionals has managed to treat COVID-19 patients who came with other health complications such as high blood pressure, diabetes among others to recovery, currently Mulago Hospital is remaining with two COVID-19 Patients still undertaking treatment.
Three COVID-19 recovered patients discharged from Mulago Hospital

Mulago National Referral Hospital represented by the Executve Director Dr. Byarugaba Baterana and the Deputy Executive Director Dr. Rosemary Byanyima discharged three patients who healed from COVID-19 and tested negative twice for Corona-Virus in two separate intervals of 48 hours. Dr. Byarugaba Baterana appreciated the Presidential Lockdown strategy to fight the spread of Corona-Virus and at that point Dr. Baterana called upon all Ugandans to adhere to the lockdown and minimise the spread of Corona-Virus.
Dr. Baterana further gave hope to Ugandans by pointing out the preparedness of Mulago National Referral Hospital team comprised of professional experienced work force who work tirelessly to ensure that all the registerd COVID-19 patients recover from the pandemic, however the Executive Director cautioned Ugandans who take the existence of Corona-Virus amidst us a joke beacuse the disease is very deadly and it has a high capabilty to claim their lives.
